HTC devices to receive Android 5 0 Lollipop update

Since quite a long time HTC is doing a great job in terms of having its high-end devices up to date with the latest Android OS version. And its not different this time! The newest Android 5.0 Lollipop will be soon available for a number of HTC devices, including:

To be honest I cant wait to see my HTC One M8 running Android five dot zero. Whats more - together with the new Android OS, HTC will most likely present refreshed version of the HTC Sense interface - HTC Sense 7.0. On the other hand, after latest Android 4.4.4 update (with HTC Sense 6.0) I ask myself - can this be even better?! Oh yes, Im sure HTC will give us something stunning again!

How To recalibrate battery life on HTC devices

This method is an official one, recommended by the HTC Technical Support Team. Finally we have some alternative to the old myth related with re-calibrating the battery by removing the batterystats.bin file from /data/system location, as it has no impact on the battery life.

So if youre having some problems with battery life, for example it rapidly or erratically discharges (the battery indicator says 18% left but then suddenly, 5 seconds later your device is OFF) this procedure should help, as it clears all battery stats, coordinates and normalizes charging. At least HTC Technical Support says that :)

The procedure is simple:
  1. Make sure that Fastboot option is disabled in Power settings.
  2. Turn off your phone.
  3. Plug phone into HTC charger and charge for two minutes or more.
  4. While charging, hold down volume-up + volume-down + power button and continue holding. Phone will turn on and off repeatedly every 15 seconds or so while continuing to hold all three buttons.
  5. Keep this going for 2 minutes, then release all buttons when phone is ON.
  6. Now, let phone charge fully normally (with phone either on or off) and battery level reporting, charging and battery life should be normalized.
So... have you tried it? Did it help? Let me know!

New Belle update for S 3 devices coming on February 8

A while back, Nokias Twitter account jumped the gun when announcing the release of the Belle update for older Nokia smartphones. Lets hope this time its for real - Nokias Vietnamese site announced that Belle is coming on February 8 for the following models: N8, E7, X7, E6, C6-01. Nokia Vietnams Facebook page confirmed it.

However the page on Nokias site is now gone, while the Facebook post is still up.
We know the Belle update is coming in February, thats the latest info from Nokia. The exact date is not clear though, their UK page just says "soon" and adds the Nokia 500 to the list of updateable phones.
Nokia is already shipping new units of those devices with Nokia Belle out of the box, so the update is clearly ready. Were not sure whats the hold up or which regions will get it first.
We cant find a mention of the update coming on February 8 on any other regional Nokia web site either. If you spot it anywhere, post a link in the comments.
