HTCs upcoming Butterfly 2 smartphone might feature a 5 2 FHD screen with waterproofing as shown by these leaked front panels

HTC is working on a sequel to the Butterfly handset, that, judging from leaked front panels, seems to fit in the niche between the 4.7" HTC One and the monster 6" One Max phablet.

The Butterfly 2 is said to sport a 5.2" Full HD panel, similar to the LG G2, and apparently is coming in white, black and blue versions. Snapdragon 800 will be running the show, claims the source, but the kicker is that the whole device will be waterproof, with HTC taking a page from Sonys playbook.

If you remember, we heard about a potential HTC Butterfly 2 coming in Q3 way back in May, and the source then tipped the Note 3 and G2 as well, so their prediction about the rest of the Butterfly 2 features might be spot on, too. The second Butterfly edition was said to come with an UltraPixel camera and Boomsound frontal speakers then, so all in all, a pretty stellar handset to look forward to.

Have a look at these alleged screen panels from the Butterfly 2 to gauge how the phone might end up looking like. We might not see it announced together with HTCs first phablet on October 15th or 17th, depending on whose rumor you believe, as the source says it will be unveiled for the Chinese New Year some time in January. Makes sense, if HTC doesnt want it to clash with the holiday sales of the One.Source
